In late July, an email from the Dutch Joomla community alerted me to a rise in security vulnerabilities across various Joomla extensions. With the Odido hack still fresh in my mind (fortunately, I wasn't a victim!) and an email arriving the very next day from Bol.com regarding a hack affecting both them and Bijenkorf, the decision was easy: we would take the site offline for a while to thoroughly check everything and ensure maximum security before reopening.
After performing various updates and checks, removing extensions, and installing fresh versions, this site should now be as secure as possible. However... in these times of geopolitical tension—with unscrupulous organizations eager to spread their "message" by any means necessary—you can never be entirely certain.
In any case, we are keeping a close watch on the situation and monitoring various Joomla sites carefully. We have implemented additional IP bans for specific geographic locations and are hoping for the best.
And of course, staying safe online is also something you can control yourself. If you’re looking for tips or want to know more, visit this wikipedia page on: Internet Safety
